Because CPD is your responsibility, you are given full control over your Plan. If you’re moving firms all you have to do is set an employment end date and reconnect at the new firm when you get there.What if I’ve started my plan elsewhere and have completed programs outside of Storkk?
It is easy to bring your previous plan / events across and continue with your existing plan on the Storkk application. You can simply copy and paste the information across to your plan) or manually type the information in the required fields.. You can then close your completed CPD events with proof of attendance (certificate or other record).What does my Plan need to include?
For your Plan to be most effective, there are a few things you’ll have to include:- What you need to learn.
- Your reason for learning it.
- How you’re going to learn and when.
- The number of hours spent on CPD.
- A reflection on previous learning and what further learning you might need.
- Proof of your attendance.
How do I create my Plan?
When you login to LexisNexis Storkk you can easily create your Plan.
To identify your learning needs think about your strengths and weaknesses; how do they fit into your career goals? Are there any changes happening to your role at work? If so, what are your new responsibilities? Are there any new laws and procedures coming into effect that you need to know about and understand?
Based on the learning needs you have identified, decide what you need to focus on during the CPD year and create an action Plan. Remember, your Plan is fluid and will evolve according to your needs, timetable and opportunities that come up during the year.
For how long do I need to keep my PLAN?
You are required to keep your Plan for 3 years, but don’t worry, this is part of the service Storkk, provides for you.
What are the criteria for CPD activities?
- Be Planned and structured with a purpose and outcomes.
- Involve interaction and feedback.
- Be relevant to your identified learning needs.
- Not be part of your day to day work.
What are the criteria for CPD activities?
- Planned and structured courses, seminars, conferences and training programs.
- One-on-one coaching/mentoring sessions and study groups that are not file-specific.
- Distance learning programs that are verifiable and interactive.
- Completion of, or study towards, relevant degrees, diplomas or certificates.
- Lecturing, teaching, training and instructing. You can also include reasonable preparation time as CPD hours.
- Interactive webinars.
Can I carry my CPD hours over to the next year?
Yes, if you do more than the minimum 10hrs, you can carry forward a maximum of five hours over to the next CPD year. Storkk takes care of this for you so you don’t need to worry about it.
How do I verify my CPD learning?
Because you’re responsible for verifying your own attendance, you need to make sure your Plan has all the details about each CPD activity. You will need the name or description of the activity, who is organizing it, the date, time and venue, the expected outcomes and the number of CPD hours it will fill.
Verifying your attendance can be done by presenting a completion certificate, an attendance record, and a letter from the organisers or a copy of the course content and associated written material; or you can get the presenter or a fellow participant to sign a note saying you were there.
You can upload your verification directly into the Storkk application where we will keep it safe and secure.
How do I 'reflect' on my CPD learning?
When you finish an activity you should take the time to think about and record what you learned. Think of it as a journal of learning and put it into your Plan is the application as a reference for the next step in your CPD.
How much does Storkk cost?
The price for the solution is $65+ GST per FE per annum; however, if you sign up before 31 May 2014, you’ll be entitled to a special introductory price of $46 + GST per user per annum (30% discount). Just quote the promotional code, NZSTRKK.
The promotion price is good for the first 12 months of the subscription after which the price reverts to the full subscription charge of $99 ex GST per user per annum.
